pura vida baby!

Life felt like a movie in Costa Rica — the lush tropical leaves wavering to the breeze, the bold lightning strikes interrupting the serenity of misty rain, the clouds encapsulating the Arenal Volcano, and the sunset skies emulating the smooth strokes of a painting. These instances of intimacy with my surroundings left me in awe because I was reminded how beautiful life could be if you intentionally sit down, pause, and appreciate the moment.

I was encapsulated in the excitement of what traveling abroad entails: the ability to pursue my curiosity to understand and experience unfamiliar customs, engage with local people and empathize with their stories, while embracing the new perspectives that forces you to reevaluate your priorities and values.

And so, here are some of my favorite captured moments of adventure and joy in Costa Rica — pura vida, baby!

  • Marcus at the Floating Boat Tour

  • Martin at Chifa La Familia Feliz — one of the yummiest meal on the trip, and the experience was even more special when we got to know Martin, the chef, and he shared his passion for his dishes intertwined with the rich cultural history.

  • Ziplining in La Fortuna

  • sloth farm

  • leading the pack like the scouts to the Arenal Volcano

  • arroz con leche and gallo pinto with lizano sauce, couldn’t eat more after the trip.

  • juice bar

  • coffee farm

  • sunset and the chasing dog at jaco beach

  • road tripping through Costa Rica — catching sunset and the spontaneity of grabbing dinner along the road and admiring our surroundings
